18th May 1998 Near Nordkapp, Norway
Midnight sun, take me to the north pole.
Midnight run, between the sunset and sunrise.
Midnight silence, there's only me and the road to the pole.
Midnight fun, I can't stop riding until the darkness comes.
How many mountains passes did I already cross?
How many rivers did I already pass?
Against the cold wind, fighting with the icy rain,
keep on going, keep on going.
There's nothing in my mind,
I am going to be insane,
don't give up, don't give up.
That's because the earth is turning around the sun
and the sun shines the earth all day long
(it's really all day long.)
In the middle of the night,
birds are still chirping,
yes, I can feel it and I know why.
Midnight sun, bring me to the north pole.
Midnight run, on the surface of the ground.
Midnight dream, forgetting about the real time.
Midnight fun, I won't stop riding until the darkness comes.
How many people did I already see? (none!)
How many lakes did I already pass? (many!)
Being carried by the wind, let myself be blown by the wind.
Keep on trying, keep on trying.
I start loosing my mind, then I'm going to be madman.
But never give up, never give up.
That's because we're living under the sun,
and the sun shines us all night long.
(all brighter night long.)
In the middle of the night,
the frozen sea begins to melt,
yes, I can hear it and I know why.
Midnight sun, take me to the north pole.
Midnight run, between the sunset and the dawn.
Midnight silence, there's only me on the road to the pole.
Midnight fun, I can't stop riding until the darkness comes.
I'm feeling you through Lapland.
I'm facing you 'cause I'm in the north land.
Beat the wind, defeat the rain, win the hills,
cut off the snow, overcome the dense fog
and take one more deep breath.
Beyond the great distance,
I finally can touch the midnight sun.
Midnight sun, take me to the north pole.
Midnight run, under the brighter sky
Midnight fight, I'm ready for the next challenge.
Midnight fun, I never stop riding until the darkness comes.
written on 20th May 1998 at just after reaching Nordkapp (Northcape), Norway.
I travelled some parts of Scandinavia & Scotland by bicycle. I especially enjoyed the part to cycle up to Northern tip of Norway which is near north pole.
It was bit early to do that so the lakes or the sea in Finland
were still frozen and could hear the sound of melting.
I ride bicycle during night time since it's colder and bright enough,
and pitched a tent and slept from morning til noon.
What I saw everyday were timid raindeers, not cars or people
that was strange feeling. And really enjoyed the moment that
it never gets dark all day long.
