"Heading Straight Ahead For A Land"
Jaisarmer, India 12th December 1997
"People crosses ocean, catches trains and buses,
then finally they start walking straight ahead for their lands."
It seems very slowly but steadily, the boat keeps moving
on the surface of the ocean.
You can't see anything except the blue sky that will make you
feel so lonely and helpless.
You are watching the earth's line,
the sun rises and sets out there.
But you can't see the world yet,
you can't see the time
all through the night in any ways.
Even if it rains or snows down on you.
Even if it's so cold or so hot outside.
You can't see the world yet,
you can't see the time.
but you can see your way.
Next day, I will drink a beer and feel so good.
Next week, I will smoke a cigarrettes and feel so blue.
Next month, I will fall in love with someone.
Next year, I will be lied, cry, and want to fly back,
and next century,
I will still keep heading straight ahead for a next country.
It seems every crowded and no space
but the train leaves the station somehow
after one hour late.
You can open the window, then see the green forest
and birds that will give you a fresh air.
You're watching the earth's life,
the clouds keep it alive and keep us alive.
But you can't see the world yet.
You can't see the time
all day long, no matter what you do.
Even if you see a beautiful flower.
Even if you see a transparent stream.
You can't see the world, you can't see the time
but you can see what you're doing now.
Next day, I will not sleep until the dawn.
Next week, I will not wake up in the morning.
Next month, I will not go outside but break down.
Next year, I will not remember who I am.
but next century
I will still keep heading straight ahead for a next country.
It's really fast and too much speed,
but the bus keeps running on the ground.
You can't see anything except the blue sky and
brown land that will make you feel so
desparate and miserable.
You're watching the earth's life.
The sun took the earth's life.
But you can't see the world yet.
You can't see the time.
All through your life, no matter how hard you try.
Even if the wind blows you away.
Even if the sand makes your eyes closed.
You can't see the world yet,
you can't see the time,
but you can see what's going on out there.
Next day, I will listen happy news.
Next week, I will hear terrible news.
Next month, I will hear from my close friends.
Next year, I will miss all of them.
but next century I will still keep heading
straight ahead for the next country.
"Well, now it's high time to start walking."
It seems very heavy and I want to leave it here.
A man starts walking on the surface of the earth.
You can see everything; lives of happy, lucky, sad,
bad and blue that will push your back or grab your bag.
You're walking into the real world.
You're walking into the real time.
Now you can see the world,
you can see the time
through our eyes, through your mind.
If it rains or snows down on you,
if it's so cold or so hot inside,
still more, you can see the world,
you can see the time,
and you can see your new way.
Next day, I will get off the boat without any regrets.
Next week, I will get off the train and never look it back.
Next month, I will get off the bus with full of dreams.
Next year, I will throw away my bagpack to a river.
and next century, I will start walking straight ahead
for a next country.
"People crosses oceans, catches trains and buses,
then finally, they start walking straight ahead for their land."
Where's my land anyway? Where am I heading to?
But sooner or later, I will see and reach the land.
It's gonna be...
Next day, I will be heading straight ahead for
Next week, I will be heading straight ahead for.
Next month, I will be heading straight ahead for.
Next year, I will be heading straight ahead for.
and next century, I will still keep heading
straight ahead for my land.
I will still keep looking straight ahead for my land.
I will still keep walking straight ahead for my land.
and I will still keep heading straight ahead for my land.

The boat was about the one I took from Osaka, Japan
to Shanghai, China. And catching a local transportation
in China and India were tough but very good opportunity
to get to know people. I have met a lot of good people
everywhere on buses or trains, and sometimes on boats.
